What Are Seeds in Garden Horizons?
Seeds are the core resource in Garden Horizons. You plant them in your garden plots, tend to them over time, and harvest the resulting crops to sell for Shillings — the primary in-game currency. Different seeds have different growth times, rarity levels, base sell prices, and mutation potential.
Choosing the right seeds for your current plot level and progression stage is one of the most important decisions in the game. Common seeds grow quickly and sell for modest Shillings, while rare and legendary seeds take longer to grow but deliver dramatically higher payouts — especially when a mutation is triggered.
Seed Rarity Tiers
Garden Horizons seeds are divided into five rarity tiers:
| Rarity | Description | Mutation Chance | Avg. Sell Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Basic seeds, easily obtained from the Town Square shop | Low | Low |
| Uncommon | Better yields, found in mid-tier shops or quest rewards | Moderate | Moderate |
| Rare | Higher value crops, unlocked at mid-game plot levels | Moderate-High | High |
| Epic | Exceptional crops with strong mutation synergy | High | Very High |
| Legendary | Rarest seeds, obtainable from special events or trading | Very High | Extremely High |

Best Seeds for Beginners
When you first start Garden Horizons, your Shilling budget is limited and you only have access to your first plot. Focus on these strategies with early seeds:
- Start with Common seeds — they're cheap, grow fast, and let you build up your Shillings quickly without risking much.
- Look for seeds with fast growth cycles — more harvests per hour means more Shillings per hour, even if each harvest is worth less.
- Complete daily quests — quests often reward Uncommon or Rare seeds that you couldn't afford to buy yet.
- Use free codes — check our Garden Horizons codes page for free Shillings that let you buy better seeds faster.
- Plant a variety — different seeds have different weather bonuses. A mixed garden performs more consistently across all weather conditions.
How to Get Seeds in Garden Horizons
There are several ways to acquire seeds in Garden Horizons:
- Town Square Shop — the primary source for Common and Uncommon seeds. Refresh regularly as stock rotates.
- Daily Quests — completing quests awards seeds as bonus rewards. Higher-level quests yield rarer seeds.
- Player Trading — trade with other players through the Town Square marketplace. Often the best source for Rare, Epic, and Legendary seeds.
- Weather Events — certain weather conditions trigger special seed drops in your garden.
- Familiar Abilities — some Familiars (pets) have abilities that find or generate seeds passively.
- Special Events — limited-time events (holiday events, developer celebrations) often drop exclusive seeds.
- Mutation Byproducts — occasionally, a crop mutation produces a rare seed as a secondary reward.
Seed Mutations
Every seed in Garden Horizons has a chance to produce a mutated crop when harvested. Mutations dramatically increase the sell value of a crop and sometimes produce rare seeds or Familiar items as bonus drops. The mutation rate depends on the seed's rarity, your active Familiars, current weather conditions, and your plot tier.
